Zhejiang entrepreneurs and companies will play an important role in promoting China’s modernization, according to officials and experts in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province.
For thousands of years, Zhejiang’s businessmen have achieved great results and will create more opportunities for Zhejiang and the country’s economic development, said Zhejiang party leader Li Lianhong.
He spoke at the 6th World Zhejiang Entrepreneurship Conference on Friday, gathering more than 700 participants, including business leaders, overseas Zhejiang businessmen, Fortune 500 representatives and academics.
“Zhejiang entrepreneurs have played an important role in the province’s development and transformation,” said Yi. “They are important engines for our quest for common prosperity and modernization.”

At the opening ceremony, 24 projects worth about 120 billion yuan ($17.1 billion) were signed. Nine major digital application platforms have been launched to further boost the development of entrepreneurs in Zhejiang and help them address key issues in areas such as R&D, financing and logistics.

“Private enterprises will help promote the quality development of the Chinese economy and the modernization of China through their own quality development,” said Shi.
The largest event of its kind, the World Zhejiang Entrepreneurship Convention, has been held every two years since its inception in 2011. The sixth edition, originally scheduled for 2021, has been postponed to this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
