As jury selection continues in the YSL Rico case involving Young Thug, the rapper has been accused of engaging in hand-to-hand drug dealing in court.
The trial hasn’t started yet and things seem to be going wrong.According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, there are three cases of contraband brought to court in a week when juror selection takes precedence. An incident occurred, delaying the already protracted jury selection.
Young Thug now appears to be contributing to the delay. As WSBTV’s Michael Seiden first reported in a tweet Thursday night, “Prosecutors said Adams walked with his lawyers to where Young Thug was sitting and dropped Percocet in his hand. Surveillance says that a deputy confronts Young Thug and he turns the pill over to the authorities.”
The incident happened on Wednesday (January 18th) and the video was released 24 hours later. Seiden also said investigators said he searched Kahlieff Adams, the deputy defendant, and found that he had been wrapped in plastic and that he had percocet, marijuana, tobacco, and food seasonings to mask the smell of weed. He added that he had found it in his possession.
To make matters worse, “To cover up the extent of the crime in court, Adams was taken to Grady Hospital after appearing to ingest other contraband,” Seiden said in a tweet.
According to Young Thug’s attorney, Keith Adams, Young Thug had no prior knowledge that Adams was going to give him Percocet. I tried to give him something, but Williams immediately turned it over to his agent,” Adams said in an interview Thursday.
Thankfully, no charges were filed against Young Thug after the case was fully investigated. According to AJC’s Jozsef Papp, “The responsible party has been charged and appeared in court for his first appearance this morning.”
According to AJC: The defendant’s mother was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of bringing “tobacco products” to her son in a clothing bag, according to an arrest warrant. On Wednesday, another defendant was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where contraband was brought into court for three consecutive days of court proceedings.
