About 349 women entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu benefit under the New Entrepreneur cum Enterprise Development Scheme (NEEDS), according to official statistics. Promoted by the Department of Commerce and Industry (TIIC) of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the scheme aims to provide all the necessary support for young people to become first-generation entrepreneurs. That’s how she started Rudra Computer Training. Today, she specializes in training women and young girls to stand on their own feet.
J. Kalavathi’s journey is equally inspiring. She was the first female entrepreneur in her village and set out on her own to build an integrated farming system. Aside from dairy, she has set her sights on developing a mushroom farm and a vermicompost farm that produce her mix of mushroom her powder.
Britannia Marie Gold My Startup Contest is a commendable initiative launched in 2019 where each season’s top 10 business ideas by female entrepreneurs win INR 10 lakh each to help start their business.
