Wisconsins march in solidarity for Tire Nichols

MILWAUKEE — Dozens of Wisconsin residents headed to Red Arrow Memorial Park on Sunday to show their support for Tyre Nichols’ family and to protest his treatment in police custody.

Femi Akinmoradun said, “We are here for our family, we are here for Memphis, we are here for our country.

Akin Moradan has been participating in protests since George Floyd was murdered. He believes that systemic racism is hardwired into the country’s culture.

He said it was time to say goodbye to the police once and for all.

“In our community, some say that freedom no longer looks like the police. Is that an accurate statement for us? I think so,” said Akin Moradun.

Tyre Nichols was beaten by a Memphis police officer and died three days later in a Memphis hospital.

Akin Moradun said the whole country needs to take small steps for real change to happen.

He said that passing George Floyd justice in police law was a step in the right direction for police reform and the next step would be to pass a police reform bill in the name of Tire Nichols. right.

“America should pay attention to this issue because it is happening to all of us,” said Akin Moradun. “The country has realized that when people want to go home and be with their mothers or have dinner with their families, they don’t get the chance to do so.”

Avis Weber is a mother. This was the first time she had protested.

“It’s just heartbreaking. It’s heartbreaking and I can’t believe it keeps getting worse,” Weber said.

Weber agreed that something needed to change, she said, starting at the political level.

“Do more policing, especially when it comes to policing that protects citizens,” said Weber.

Weber was urged to take to the street after hearing Nichols’ mother talk on TV, she said a parent didn’t have to feel the pain she was feeling.

“I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose a child under any circumstances, but now is the time to show them something that has just been shown on TV.”
