SPARTA, Wisconsin (AP) — A judge Wednesday sentenced a Wisconsin man to life and 120 years in prison for killing his grandfather-in-law with an ax and wounding two others during an argument at his step-grandfather’s house on Wednesday. was handed over.
Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Todd Ziegler called 38-year-old Thomas Wayne Upseter a selfish and ruthless human being before sentencing him.
“I have trouble finding the positive side of Mr. Aspseter’s character,” the judge said.
Prosecutors say Aspseter lived with his 87-year-old grandfather-in-law, Bernard Waite, who left his home in Sparta, a community of about 10,000 people roughly halfway between Milwaukee and Minneapolis. “I’ve been in hell for quite some time,” she said. “I live this every day and every night.”
Ziegler sentenced Aspsetter to life in prison for murdering his stepgrandfather and sentenced him to 60 consecutive years in prison for his attacks on Michael and Margaret Waite.
