Samsung released the Camera Assistant app in October of this year, giving you more control over the camera on the Galaxy S22 line of smartphones. And now the company plans to extend the app to other Galaxy devices. Some curious users posted a thread on the company’s community forums for South Korea asking if Samsung plans to bring a camera assistant app to the previous generation Galaxy S series smartphones.
A forum moderator responded with a somewhat vague answer to users’ concerns, claiming that the software is currently in a testing phase on Galaxy S22 family members, with “another announcement” regarding other devices. The answer excited some and puzzled others, as it didn’t give a clear answer as to when and on which devices the company planned to bring the application to the market.
Those still wondering asked for more information about the availability of the Camera Assistant app on other devices. In the future, we will further consider whether it is better to conduct beta tests on more models.”
Camera Assistant has automatic softening of photo textures, a toggle for better control over HDR, and automatically switches to the right lens for your photo capture. There is also a ‘Quick Shot’ option to reduce motion blur in still images. Overall, it gives you more options for clicking photos that are better than the stock app.
Since its release, the app has only been available on the Galaxy S22 series, and many have asked Samsung to release it on other devices. There’s no official release date or list of devices available yet.
