On February 2, 2013, at KMPH in Fresno, Calif., it’s been nearly a decade since sportswriter Jessob Reisbeck was tasked with standing in for the news department. A worker was secured to his truck. Jett Simmons McBride was responsible and apparently targeted PG&E employees because they were black.

Also in the car with McBride was hitchhiker Kai Lawrence, whom McBride beat repeatedly with a hatchet after he attacked a woman trying to free a PG&E worker. Kai’s version of events was told to Laisbeck in a meandering, hilarious interview that rocketed the hitchhiker’s fame. However, a strange twist to this story would find Kai in prison on murder charges.

What is Jessob Riisbeck doing now?
Perhaps Kai Lawrence’s story would have been the most viral sensation had he not been jailed for murder. Kai claims he was acting in self-defense. He is currently serving a 57-year prison sentence at the New Jersey State Penitentiary in Trenton.
As for Rysbeck, his career kept him out of Fresno, but the story never completely disappeared. But he played a big part in bringing Hitchhiker wielding a hatchet On the small screen again.
Chatting with a colleague, he talked about how the documentary came about almost a decade after the story broke. “Once upon a time he [Kai] was convicted, many production companies began coming to me wanting to make this film. ”

After landing with a production company, they will begin filming in 2021 and the documentary is now available to stream on Netflix. Making the film was an incredible amount of work, thanks in large part to the fact that Riisbeck was so caring about his subject matter. “It was stressful at times,” he revealed. “This story means a lot to me, and you want it to be told correctly and honestly.”
Reisbeck became the only reporter Kai Lawrence spoke to. The result is a kind of friendship that makes Kai’s current situation very difficult.

In his own life, Jessob Reisbeck has been blessed with a beautiful family.
When not covering the local Milwaukee news, Reisbeck spends most of his time with his family. His partner, Lindsey, is the owner of Share Beaute his salon, where he has worked as a hairstylist for 11 years, according to the salon’s website. He specializes in balayage, evidence of which can be seen on Instagram. From time to time I post pictures of Rysbeck and his twin children. Are they also Rysbeck’s twin children? We really don’t know.
Now, this is where things get a little confusing. Reisbeck has two sons from a previous marriage to a woman named Jackie and apparently shares twins Kinsley Hayden and Carter John with Lindsey. His CBS 58 bio name checks Jackie and her sons, though it suggests they are dating without.
I honestly need an investigative reporter for this.
