Masomany, Wisconsin — The new Ms Wisconsin Wheelchair will start a new term in the New Year.
And she wants to help others.
Annie Heathcote says she wants to make an impact in her community and the state of Wisconsin in her role.
Heathcote is not only passionate about helping others, but also wants to play a role as an advocate for people with disabilities in Wisconsin.
But helping her hometown Maso Maniye will always mean something to her.

In her first months in office, she was able to make appearances, give interviews, and speak to students about how to treat people with disabilities.
In her hometown, she has helped several businesses, such as City Hall, make it more accessible.
“I’m really happy you put up the sign and put the doorbell there,” said Heathcote, appreciating the new doorbell installed at City Hall.
Heathcote has been in his new role for several months and said he is ready to start another year in the role.
“I am truly honored to bear this title. It means so much to me that it gives me a voice to speak out for the disability community and advocate for accessibility and inclusion on a larger scale.” There is,” said Heathcote.
Her hope is to focus on caregiver needs as part of her campaign and shed light on the needs of people with disabilities.
“Right now, the care profession is seriously understaffed. It’s a big crisis that many people don’t know about, so I think it’s important to educate the general public,” said Heathcote.
For Courtney Beuthin, town clerk of Mazomanie, it’s exciting to have an advocate in her community.

“We’re going to help all of us, not just for her, it’ll help the community grow stronger together.
Heathcote said he feels positive about what this year will bring and what he can achieve with the title.
“I think it all helps bring about positive change,” said Heathcote.
