2023 will be a busy night on the mat with the WPIAL team wrestling section matches.
Wednesday kicks off a busy month of team wrestling action with several key matches on the district schedule.
There are only 5 teams in section 4-3A, but 3 of them are the best teams in the classification.
In addition to 2022 runners-up Connellsville, Westmoreland County rivals Latrobe and Hempfield are off to a good start with 1-0 section records each and an overall 8-2 overall record. .
The Spartans will host the Wildcats on Wednesday for the #1 share.
There are some matches to watch in Class 2A.
In Section 2, Mount Pleasant (2-0, 3-4) will host Frazier (2-0, 3-2) and WPIAL Champions Quaker Valley (2-0, 8-4) will host Montur When you do, 1st place is at stake. (2-0, 3-0) 1st place in Section 3.

The Ironmen as a team are averaging 17 points per game, while Wade is averaging 37.5 points per game earlier this season.
Wednesday’s youth basketball section game is a Section 3-3A matchup between two struggling teams out of the gate for the 2022-2023 season.
Apollo Ridge hosts the Ligonnier Valley in a contest where both teams are 0-2 in their section and 2-17 overall.

A quiet night in District 7’s basketball hardwoods, but it’s going to be a busy afternoon/night in District 8 with boys and girls whoops.
Alderdis (1-0, 8-3) visits Obama Academy (1-0, 3-4) Wednesday in an early-season battle for first place in the City League men’s basketball.
Both Perry (0-0, 2-6) and Westinghouse (0-0, 0-3) will start the City League schedule at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Commodores host Carrick (0-1, 2-8) while the Bulldogs welcome Brasher (0-1, 2-7).
When Obama Academy (3-3) moves to Alderdis (3-7), they’ll also get their first-place share in the girls’ hoops. Both teams won City League openers before the holidays.
Westinghouse (1-0, 2-5) are also tied for first place and are preparing to face Brasher (0-1, 0-2) in the afternoon’s game.
Rounding out Wednesday’s schedule is Perry (0-1, 0-1) visiting Carrick (0-1, 5-3).
