The Eagles will face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII on February 12 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The Eagles consistently win 4-5 against the Chiefs. Andy Reed is a six-time winning coach with the Eagles in 2001, 2005 and 2009 and the Chiefs in 2013, 2017 and 2021.
Mahomes has faced the Eagles only once. He went 24-for-30 with 278 yards, five touchdowns and one interception (by Eric Wilson) in the Chiefs’ 42–30 win early last season at the rink.
Jalen Hurts had one of the best games of his career that afternoon, completing 32 of 48 passes for a career-high 387 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.
The Eagles last beat the Chiefs in Week 3 of the 2009 season in the rink, when Kevin Kolb went 24-34 for 327 yards and touchdown passes to DeSean Jackson and Brent Celek.
A native of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, Beach was a wide receiver for Delaware, and his quarterback was current Bears quarterback coach Matt Nagy. Veach began his career with the Eagles as a coaching intern and assistant to beginner-level coaches before moving to scouting under Roseman from 2010 to 2012.
He is credited with first identifying Mahomes as a potential franchise quarterback and building the Chiefs’ 2019 Super Bowl championship.
Nick Siriani spent the 2012 season with the Chiefs on Todd Haley’s coaching staff. When Reed replaced Haley, he interviewed Siriani, but had long planned to hire longtime Eagles assistant David Curry as his wide-receiver coach.
Reed’s coaching staff has many connections with the Eagles.
• Special Teams Coach Dave Toub served as the Eagles’ Assistant Special Teams Coach from 2001-2003 under John Harbaugh.
• Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy played for Reed in 1999 with the Eagles.
• Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo coached the secondary and linebackers under Reid here from 1999-2006.
• Linebackers coach Ken Frajol played the same role with the Eagles from 2016-2020 under Doug Pederson.
• Running Bucks coach Greg Lewis caught 127 passes for the Eagles from 2003-08 for 1,699 yards and seven touchdowns.
• Tom Melvin is the lead tight end coach for the Eagles and Chiefs for 24 consecutive years.
• Quarterback Coach Matt Nagy – the coach who lost the Double Doink game – began his coaching career under Reid of the Eagles from 2008-2012.
The Chiefs’ only former Eagle is offensive lineman Prince Tega Wanogo, the Eagles’ 6th.th– 2020 Round Pick. Appeared in all 19 games for the Chiefs.
