MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wade Miley will earn a full $1.5 million performance bonus if he pitches 150 innings this season as part of a one-year $4.5 million deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Miley’s deal, announced Monday, is worth $3.5 million this year and includes a $10 million reciprocal option and a $1 million buyout for 2022. He earned $150,000 in his 75th innings, $350,000 in his 100th innings, and $500,000 each in his 125th and 150th innings.
Miley will receive a one-time allocation bonus of $250,000 if traded.
The Cy Young Award wins $100,000, second place $75,000, and third place $50,000. He also earns $50,000 each for making an All-Star team, winning Comeback Player of the Year, Mariano Rivera/Trevor Hoffman Relief Player of the Year, or World Series MVP or Sliver Slugger. Won $25,000 in a Gold Glove Award or League Championship Series MVP.
Miley also gets a hotel suite on her road trip.
The 36-year-old lefty was named an All-Star with Arizona in 2012 and played in 16 games with Milwaukee in 2018, going 5-2 with a 2.57 ERA to help the Brewers win the NL Central title. Advanced to Round 7 of the NL Championship Series. He posted a 1.23 ERA in four postseason starts that year.
Miley missed the start of the 2022 season with left elbow inflammation and also sat out with a shoulder strain.
He pitched a no-hitter and started 28 games for Cincinnati in 2021, going 12-7 with a 3.37 ERA. Miley is 99-94 with a 4.13 ERA.
