The Macon Music Trail App is a self-guided tour for music lovers that traces Macon’s vast musical history.
Macon, GA — The Historic Macon Foundation and Visit Macon offer visitors and Macon citizens a way to gain access to Macon’s musical history.
The Macon Music Trail App is a self-guided tour for music lovers that traces Macon’s vast musical history. Visit Macon and other organizations are inviting people to Grant’s Lounge on Wednesday to celebrate the app’s official release.
“The site is actually part of the Historic Macon Registry, which was developed in 2016,” said Marisa Rodgers, Marketing Director of Visit Macon.
Historic stops big and small are all at your fingertips.
Rodgers says the app’s goal is to make it easy for anyone to learn the history of music.
“So many people want to come here and experience the history of music, but there is no easy way to find it now, so I wanted to make it easier.
There are many ways to run trails in your app. Music lovers can walk there or drive through.
Rogers says there are many great places downtown.
“It impacted what we know about music today. Our visitors are interested in that story. I wanted to tell you a lot of things that even locals may not know.
This app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store. Search for Tour Macon or Macon Music Trail.
The event actually starts at 2:00 PM at the first stop on the trail, the Downtown Visitor Information Center. Complimentary tours by the Visitor Services team are available at a limited number of stops. You can also join a self-guided tour at any time.
The launch party will be held at 6:00 PM at the Grants Lounge in downtown Macon. At 7:30 p.m., The Macon Music His Revue features Charles His Davis and The Velvet Sound performing covers of the Macon legend’s biggest hits.
