OXFORD, Mississippi (AP) — Santiago Vescobi scored 22 points and teamed up with Zacai Ziegler to make six free throws in the final minute and 09 seconds to win Wednesday’s Southeastern Conference opener. 7 helped Tennessee beat Mississippi 63-59. .
Veskowy converted two free throws to make it 63-57 with 19 seconds remaining. Ziegler added his 13 points as Tennessee (11-2) recovered from his 10-point hole early on and his 34-28 halftime deficit.
Ole Miss (8-5) was led by Jaemyn Brakefield with 18 points, including four 3-pointers in the second half. Amalie Abram added his 10 points, Matthew Murrell averaged 15.6 points per game, and 11-1 shooting held him to 5 points.
Jonas Aidoo had a game-high 13 rebounds as the Vols rebounded Ole Miss 38-28.
Ole Miss finished 19 of 51 (37%) from the field. Only seven goals were scored in the second half, including his four for Brakefield.

Tennessee: It wasn’t pretty, but winning the SEC road opener was the number one priority. The Vols proved they could crush it even though he fell behind 31-21 in the first 15 minutes. Defense and rebounding were the difference in the second half, limiting Ole Misses from the field to 7-of-25.
Ole Miss: This loss is disappointing, especially after a home loss to North Alabama and an inconsistent December. The defense and braking field delivered quality performances, but the Rebels weren’t strong enough to survive a night of unusual shooting by Murrell.
