Utah Tech comeback falls short, loses to Tarleton on the road

Stephenville, Texas – The Utah Tech Trail Blazers traveled to the Wisdom Gymnasium on Thursday to face the Tarleton State Texans.

The Trail Blazers earned their long-awaited home victory with an 89-76 victory over the Aggies of New Mexico. His final game for the Texans was a 77-48 loss to the California Baptiste Lancers.

Placed eighth and ninth in the Western Athletic Conference, this matchup could be important for seeding going forward.

first half

The game ended early. Many of the early points came from Hustle his play on defense and offensive grass.

Cameron Gooden hit a three-point shot to put the Trail Blazers on the board.

Utah Tech took its first lead of the game four minutes later, at 10-8.

The Texans answered with a 13-2 run to regain the lead.

The run was made for a scoring drought by the Trail Blazers for 11 minutes without a field goal. His 12 of his 19 in the Utah Tech opening were on free throws.

Isiah Pope broke Utah Tech’s cold streak with a wing 3-pointer.

Tarleton’s aggressive defense and fast-paced offense surprised the Trail Blazers. Utah Tech shot 23% of his shots from the field, and he scored 14 fewer goals on the field than the Texans in the first half.

UTU were heavily down 50-28 in the first half.

Latter half

Utah Tech dropped the lead to 14 early in the second half.

The Trailblazers have calmed down and regained momentum. They dropped their lead to 11 after the big three.

With 11 minutes remaining, the Trailblazers dropped their lead to single digits for the first time in 20 minutes of play.

The two teams exchanged baskets in one fell swoop.

They held it for several minutes as Tarleton regained a 10-point lead.

With 1:40 remaining in the game, Utah Tech dropped the lead to 7 after a steal led to a fastbreak dunk.

Tarleton clocked down to :44 before making a floater and extending his lead to 9.

With 30 seconds remaining, the Trailblazers ejected a 3 to make the score 73-67.

UTU stole the ball and dropped the lead to 2 points.

The Trailblazers lost to the Texans 74-72.
