Next year’s Copa America will be held in the United States and will feature six CONCACAF teams.
South American football organization CONMEBOL announced on Friday that its 10 national teams will play tournaments outside the region after signing a deal with the Union of North, Central American and Caribbean Nations.
The six 2024 Copa America guests will secure a spot depending on their performance in the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League.
CONMEBOL said in a statement that the Games will take place in the northern hemisphere summer.
The deal also includes placing four of the CONMEBOL women’s teams in CONCACAF tournaments, as well as creating new club competitions.
Ecuador, as expected, has decided not to host the 2024 Copa America due to public security concerns.
The United States, Mexico and Canada will co-host the Men’s World Cup in 2026.
Argentina are the defending Copa America and World Cup champions.
