Internationally renowned local clothing brand Urban Zulu recently released a three-piece fashion collection to honor a deceased artist.

Johannesburg – Busi Mlongo’s music has transformed the Muskandi guitar music of immigrant Zulu miners into a global phenomenon.
Today, Urban Zulu pays tribute to the late artist’s legacy by releasing a three-piece fashion collection the year she turned 75.
Mhlongo died of breast cancer in 2010.
“The Urban Zulu brand was named after her album Urban Zulu, so she was a big influence in establishing the brand. It’s a reference to a persona,” founder Pappy Calu said in a statement.
In 2020, the fashion brand pays tribute to Mhlongo with a summer collection. Some of the items were modeled by great artists such as Bongeziwe Mabandla, Wanda Baloyi and Max-Hoba.
To accompany the release of the capsule collection, The Busi Mhlongo Music Festival, held in partnership with Soweto Theater on December 14th, will feature Mhlongo’s friend and bandmate Madala Kunene and culture enthusiast and composer Mbuso Khoza. etc. will appear.
