Ukrainian pharmacies have embraced digital payments amid the ongoing war, with major local pharmacy chains allowing payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC).
ANC Pharmacy, one of Ukraine’s largest pharmacy chains, has partnered with Binance Ukraine to launch cryptocurrency payments via contactless crypto payment service Binance Pay.
ANC Pharmacy will allow customers to continue to make instant payments when purchasing pharmacy products online starting Jan. 3, the pharmacy chain officially announced on Tuesday.
ANC Pharmacy operates over 1,000 pharmacies across Ukraine and operates its own online pharmacy service. According to the official announcement, Binance Pay payments will first be rolled out in Kyiv pharmacies.
The new payment functionality will be available not only at ANC pharmacies, but also at pharmacy stores such as Kopiyka and Shara operated by ANC pharmacies. “ANC, Kopiika and Shara are the first pharmacies in Europe to accept cryptocurrencies,” the official announcement states.
To proceed with cryptocurrency payments at ANC pharmacies, users will need to download the Binance application and then visit the ANC.ua website. After selecting the products to order online, users can pay using the Binance Pay service and pick up the order at their preferred pharmacy.
A spokesperson for Binance Ukraine did not immediately respond to Cointelegraph’s request for comment.

Binance has actively promoted its presence in Ukraine over the past few years. In September 2022, Binance also partnered with his Ukrainian supermarket chain Varus to allow customers to pay for grocery purchases through his Binance Pay Wallet.
In early February 2022, or just a few weeks before Russian forces invaded Ukraine, Binance Ukraine General Manager Kirill Komyakov told Cointelegraph that the launch of Binance Card in Ukraine would be Binance’s first in 2022. He said it was one of his priorities.
According to Khomyakov, cryptocurrency transactions are not prohibited in Ukraine, so cryptocurrency payments via services such as Binance Card are not in violation of Ukrainian law. At the same time, local laws do not allow direct payments in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
