A new update is added at the end of this story…….
The original (released on January 13, 2023) is as follows.
A successful social network, Twitter (now under the control of Elon Musk), allows experimentation in many ways. We have a third party client so that we can use the website and the official app.
Tweetbot and Twitterrific are two of the most popular third-party Twitter clients. But they (and others) seem to be in the middle of an outage right now.
According to multiple reports, Tweetbot, Twitterrific, and other third-party clients are currently down or non-functional due to potential Twitter API outages.
Tweetbot and Twitterrific are down or not working for multiple users
Several Tweetbot users have reported that the client is down because they can’t access or have logged out of their account.
Uh oh. @tweetbot cannot request tokens from @Twitter. Something is down or something is being done. Is this the end? If so, both for me.

The API seems to be down for third party apps such as Tweetbot. Assuming the failure was intentional, that might be the reason for pulling the plug in the end.

Twitterrific users have reported similar situations as they have been logged out of their accounts without being able to re-access them.
Hi @Twitterrific Your account has been logged out and is no longer accessible. The window tells me to login again, but the button doesn’t work. thank you!

@Twitterrific My iPad’s iOS Twitterific stopped working… I tried to send a tweet and it returned a message saying it could not be authenticated. I closed the app, but it didn’t go back… I deleted the app and re-downloaded it, but I can’t sign in 🙁

Other popular Twitter third-party clients or apps phoenix When Talon is also down at this point. However, Tweetdeck was acquired by Twitter some time ago, so it’s not affected by this issue (so it’s kind of an official client).
This may be due to an outage of the Twitter API
Apparently, the cause of this situation could be that the Twitter API is down. The Twitter API allows external clients to connect to Twitter accounts.
This way, users can log into those clients and enjoy the native Twitter functionality and additional client functionality.
That said, the Twitter API outage means that third-party clients will no longer be able to communicate with the main platform. Therefore, they will no longer work until the issue is resolved.
There has been no official announcement from the Twitter team regarding this issue yet. We will update this story as events unfold.
Update 1 (January 13, 2023)
10:25 AM IST: The Twitterrific team has confirmed they are aware of the issue, but the exact cause is still unknown.
We are aware that Twitterrific is having issues communicating with Twitter. I still don’t know what the root cause is, but I’m trying to find it. Please look forward to it.

The Tweetbot team is also aware of the situation. They even tried to reach out to Twitter for more information about it, but have yet to get a response.
Tweetbot and other clients are having trouble logging into Twitter. I reached out to Twitter for more information, but have not received a response.
We hope this is just a temporary glitch and we will let you know as soon as we have more information.
