For the first time in nearly 40 years, Virginia’s men’s basketball program will be represented in the NBA Dunk Contest. New Orleans Pelicans forward and former UVA basketball star Trey Murphy III has reportedly been invited to the 2023 NBA Dunk Contest.
The NBA Dunk Contest will be held during All-Star Weekend as one of the events of NBA All-Star Saturday Night on February 18. NBA All-Star Saturday Night is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a dunk contest being the final event of the night, following skill challenges and a three-point contest.
Trey Murphy III will reportedly join Kenyon Martin Jr. (Houston Rockets), Shadon Sharp (Portland Trail Blazers) and Mac McClung (G League) as participants in the NBA Dunk Contest.
Murphy has been putting on the show all season long with an array of flashy in-game dunks. Watch some of his best dunks in the video below, courtesy of the New Orleans Pelicans.
