It’s also strange that Brady justified his actions by pointing to the fact that he wasn’t successful.
He admits to trying to trip Hooker. The fact that Brady attempted and failed to blatantly violate the rules should be enough to fine him.

Unions have obligations both to players who commit rule infractions and to players who are on the wrong end of their operation. Unions must defend the right of a player to trip, target, or spear other members of the union.
In my opinion, this is a bad look for Brady. He should take the L, shake the coin off the couch cushion, pay the fine, and move on.
