TAMPA, FL — Tom Brady retires.
In a tweet posted Wednesday morning, an emotional Brady announced he was retiring “permanently.”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback thanked his fans, teammates, competitors and his family in announcing his decision to retire.
The announcement comes a year after the seven-time Super Bowl winner Brady announced his retirement before changing his mind and returning for another season in Tampa.
Brady, 45, has been Tampa Bay’s quarterback for the last three seasons and led the Bucks to a Super Bowl title after the 2020 season.
He is the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards (89.214) and touchdown passes (649). Brady had 4,694 passing yards, the third-most in the NFL, and 25 touchdowns last season, third for the Bucks.
A three-time NFL MVP, Brady led the New England Patriots to six championships over 20 seasons.
“Getting straight to the point. I’m retiring….forever,” Brady said in his tweet video taken on the beach. The people who supported me: family, friends, teammates, competitors, etc. I could go on forever. Too many.
“Thank you for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I won’t change anything. I love you all.”
