Dear African Entrepreneur,
2022 has not been an easy year.
We have escaped the pandemic, but no one has been immune to global events. Prices have risen terribly, the cost of doing business has increased, and customers are at their limit. Anyone can be forgiven for giving up, scaling back their entrepreneurial dreams, or taking the easier path.
But I know you can rise to the challenge, see the long run, and show the resilience that all of us who were born in Africa inherit. I know. you should be proud I’m proud of you Resilience is the burning passion that drives you to never give up.
I have learned some lessons that are essential to my success. I hope these will help you on your journey.
Do not be afraid push the limitsHas the harsh environment set me back? No, on the contrary, now is the time to challenge your plans. Just go a little further and keep your course. We have taken a big step with the Foundation. For the first time, my team and I traveled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he announced the selection of African entrepreneurs who have successfully completed all the completion requirements of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, 2022.
We wanted to show that we are truly pan-African and highlight the role that governments and policy makers must play to share the burden and indeed reduce it. We will increasingly partner with African governments to promote entrepreneurship in our own countries.
return it! I was born in Africa, I grew up in Africa, I studied in Africa, I worked in Africa, I made it in Africa. Beyond business success, always look for ways to not only give back, but also empower the generations behind us to go further than we have. It can be as simple as giving advice, being a mentor, or spreading your success. Yes, we need more beacons of African excellence, share your experiences and make your voice heard.
Continue Define what success means to youAt the Tony Ermel Foundation, we have created an institution with a single focus: Young African Entrepreneurs. Twelve years ago, we knew that giving young people the tools and opportunities to succeed was the only sustainable and dignified way to pave the way to prosperity for all. Replace self-reliance with grants and pioneer philanthropy in the 21st century.
Earn your luck! I am the product of luck and hard work. I know firsthand that these factors are inseparable if you want to be successful.
