A self-described “girly girl,” 9-year-old Zandra Cunningham has always asked her parents for the latest beauty products. One day her dad just told her “no” and she got to making her own. Before her 10th birthday, Cunningham launched Zandra Her Beauty and hoped it would empower other young girls.
When asked about his experience as a child entrepreneur, Cunningham said:

How she became a successful entrepreneur
It started as a hobby for Cunningham and her mom. They played around with different ingredients until they found a formula they liked “through a lot of trial and error.” Slowly, they began turning their pastime into a brand, and Cunningham began selling his products at his local farmer’s market and vending machines. Years later, when Mr. Cunningham was 12 years old, the family started his Etsy shop of her Zandra Beauty.
“I’m lucky and grateful to have parents who support me in whatever I want to do, as long as it makes me happy,” says Cunningham. , they definitely stepped into it and gave me the best chance to do what I love.”
At the time, Zandra Beauty was one of the first brands to offer plant-based, vegan, and organic beauty products at affordable prices.
The 21-year-old has essentially grown with her brand, but her goals haven’t changed. It’s all about building relationships with your customers. ”
As we learn more about the industry, Cunningham continues to refine our formulations and inventory. “There are many brands doing similar things, but there is still a lot of room for growth,” she says. “Your customers are out there. You have to find what makes you stand out.”

Filled with evocative affirmations and defined by playful color schemes, packaging is a big part of what makes Zandra Beauty so successful. “There are a lot of negative perceptions of women and girls in the world,” says Cunningham. “All we need is something that inspires us and keeps us healthy. We want every aspect of our products to be great, from labels and packaging to ingredients.”
Cunningham also hopes her packaging will help educate customers. “There are a lot of products on the market that look natural or vegan, but they really aren’t. I want my packaging to help girls understand what each term means and how to read or check ingredients. .”
