milwaukee – A 28-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged with second-degree reckless murder in the shooting of a woman near 48th Street and Chambers on Saturday, September 24. Defendant is Donnell Ragsdale.
Milwaukee police were dispatched to a home near 48th Street and Chambers to open fire, according to the criminal complaint. When detectives arrived at the scene, they found a woman with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, the victim died in hospital.
The complaint indicates that detectives recovered a .357 Magnum revolver near the victim’s body at the residence. They also found a used cartridge in a revolver and a 9mm handgun in the same room.

The defendant was at the scene when officers first arrived on the scene. “He admitted that he was wrestling with (the victim) over a gun when (the victim) was suddenly shot,” the complaint reads. Ragsdale was arrested on the spot.

In a later interview with police, Ragsdale admitted that he “went into a physical struggle[with the victim]to take the gun. During the struggle, he twisted the gun and pointed it at her and the gun fired and opened fire on her,” the complaint reads.
Ragsdale is scheduled to appear in Milwaukee County Courthouse on Friday, September 30.
