The anti-racist theater collective will host its second season at Tribeca’s Free Theater as the organization’s key resident company.
The second season of The Fled Collective was planned using an unconventional democratic process they called “The Pitch Party”. It’s an annual massive event where members submit detailed project proposals and vote collectively in real time to select the season by the end of the night. In addition to new theatrical workshop productions, The Fled’s season is a commitment to the rapid artistic response to an ever-changing world and an ongoing commitment to building a more equitable New York theater industry and community. continue.
The Fled Collective announced the 2023 season on Instagram and accepted donations to support the production of the season on its GoFundMe page, paying artists to say, “We put people above profit. ” was announced as part of the pillar. Radio Fled is a series of live community conversations with theater professionals and listeners discussing various topics related to building an equitable theater industry. Created and hosted by Dolores “D-Lo” Avery Pereira (she/her) and her co-producer and co-host her Briar Robin “Bri” Pollock (they/them). Radio Fled’s inaugural season featured episodes from “How to Create Brave Spaces” to “Anti-Capitalism in Art” to “Expression in Playwrights and Dramaturgy” and featured guest Erin Cherry. We closed out the season with a live recording with the studio audience. (After Forever) and Elizabeth Van Dyke (New Federal Theatre). Step Kids is a one-act hip-hop musical that tells the story of a group of teenagers who audition for an elite all-star step dance team. The competition is fierce and won’t go unnoticed by ‘the voice of God’. After much scrutiny and questioning, our heroine, Yesica, shares her love for the Step.In her account, she goes into the American Step dancing history and its African roots, and finds herself Guides you to find your own voice. Audiences will step into her beautifully told history lesson on American history along with an energetic show filled with music and dance.
Tyrone L Robinson (he/he) is an actor, director and playwright. Most recently, Robinson wrote the music and lyrics for the musical Show Way (Kennedy Center, Washington DC). His music was featured in Bliss’s Emerging Writers His Group Reading by Jerome A. Parker at New York’s Public Theater. Bliss starred André DeShields and Daphne Rubin Vega. Robinson has written commissions for First Stage Milwaukee, TheaterWorks USA and Children’s Theater Charlotte. Awards include the ASCAP Frederick Loewe Award for Best Theatrical Music Composition, his Off-Broadway Alliance Award (Best Family Show) for his Vital Theater Company Show Way in New York City in 2013, and the Evelyn Russell Layton Award. was nominated for MFA NYU Tisch School of the Arts. The beloved late-night play competition is back, reborn, and reimagined to prioritize BIPOC and queer voices. SERIALS is a raucous night of serial theater featuring resident actors from The Fled and some of NYC’s hottest up-and-coming playwrights and directors. Teams present original short episodic plays, and audiences vote for their favorites to return in new installments. SERIALS was originally created by Dominic Spillane and Stephen Stout and further developed by members of The Flea Theater’s former resident artist company, The Bats.
The Season 2 Premiere Cycle takes place February 9-11 at the Free Theatre, Shiggy.

Rising social media influencers (Shay, Tegan and Paige) have been chosen for a special hideaway at Spahn Ranch, along with highly popular and mysterious influencer and reality star Charlie. Picking up the phone, the influencer begins to encounter ghosts of the past, anxieties of the present, and a promising but perilous future. SWAY explores the need and exploitation of human connection in the current age of influence. SWAY was recently named a Semifinalist for the 2022 National Congress of Playwrights and a Semifinalist for the 2022-2023 New Her Dramatist Princess Grace Award Fellowship at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.
SMJ (they/them) are New York-based mixed-race, transgender, non-binary playwrights, educators, and theater producers. They are Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows from 2022 to 2023. Their work has been seen in various guises throughout the United States and the United Kingdom, including at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, Carnegie Mellon University, DR2 Theatre, Art House Productions, Artist Corp, Fort Salem Theatre, Access Theatre, and Fresh Ground Pepper. , and the HMBG Foundation. SMJ is a semi-finalist for the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Playwrights Conference, New Dramatist’s Princess Grace Award, The Civilians’ R&D Group’s semi-finalist, and a finalist for the Doric Wilson Independent Playwright’s Award and Fifth His Avenue Theater’s First Draft . commission.
