Brenda Thompson is the new Director of Marketing and Communications for Lancaster County.
A graduate of Winthrop University, Thompson brings an extensive background in marketing and many local connections with the county.
Previously, he was the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Lancaster County Economic Development Authority, most recently at the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce.
During her time at the Chamber of Commerce, she first served as Membership Director and then Vice President of Marketing and Program Development. Thompson has organized and executed numerous events and has continued to effectively connect local businesses, seven years later, with new programs such as Morning Her Business Her Connections and the new Young Her Professionals program launching in 2023. was carried out. She helped the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce reach her 2018 CACCE Outstanding Chamber of the Year.
Prior to joining the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce, Thompson was Senior Director and President of South Hill Design, where he oversaw and mentored over 1,400 employees in five countries.
She served as Vice President of Marketing for Provident Community Bank, was responsible for public relations at eight locations in South Carolina, and set up training programs for more than 100 employees.
Thompson also served as senior vice president of membership and marketing for the York County Regional Chamber of Commerce. During her tenure there, she directed her membership campaigns, one of which she was recognized as the first in the state of Carolina to achieve the highest net income for her dollar of membership. .
Lancaster County Administrator Dennis Marstall said he was thrilled to have Thompson join the county’s leadership team.
“Brenda’s extensive background in communications and marketing, along with her past employment in the county, will benefit us as she assumes a leadership role in creating our new communications and marketing department. ‘ said Marstor.
“She will play a key role in enhancing our communication efforts both internally and externally, as well as enhancing civic engagement and better defining the County’s brand around our high-performing organizational focus. .”
Thompson is enthusiastic about many new projects with Lancaster County.

Thompson will assume his new position on January 30.
