South Africa’s animal welfare authorities on Monday seized and captured a tiger that was found roaming a residential area east of the capital Johannesburg.
Security guards monitoring security cameras at an office building in the Johannesburg suburb of Edenvale said they spotted the large cat early Monday morning and that authorities took part in its capture using tranquilizer-laden darts.
Residents were warned to stay vigilant and keep all animals indoors.
It’s the second time in recent weeks that a tiger has been let loose in South Africa.
It is not known when or where the latest tiger came from, but officials believe it is an escaped pet.
