Teresa Rampulla, founder and CEO of She Media NY and marketing director and advertising sales manager at Ferry Ads, was destined to be a Staten Island businesswoman.
Rampulla was born and raised in Staten Island where he began his professional career. As a teenager, Rampulla did an internship at the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, where his mother’s girlfriend Amy Campbell served as her director of membership for nearly 20 years.
“What I learned about business was learned through the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce,” says Rampulla. “During the summer, when I was out of school, my mom took me to the Chamber of Commerce where I learned how to talk to businessmen. I would like to know how many members of the Chamber of Commerce are doing the service.” So when her mother turned to me and said, ‘Teresa,’ I went to check it out. “
“My mother taught me how to find everything. She told me, ‘You always find the answer. It’s there, you have to find it,'” Rampulla recalls. “Even now, whenever someone is looking for something, my husband says, ‘You’ll have an answer within an hour,’ and he’s right! won’t stop searching until you find it. “
While attending Staten Island University, Lampura took the bus to Manhattan several times a week to work for BBDO, New York City’s top advertising agency. After she quickly realized her worth in Rampulla, BBDO offered her a full-time position on her team of advertising creatives, which she quickly accepted. From there, she worked for major advertising and public relations firms such as TBWA and Tierney, spearheading campaigns, designing ads, and developing marketing and her PR strategy.
“Every job I’ve ever had has involved people,” says Rampulla. “I started the business with my mother and learned about business at a young age, so working with business people has always been a part of me. I always looked up to them.”
Rampulla returned to Staten Island in the mid-1990s to found The Writer’s Edge, a PR and marketing firm, and worked for SI Advance while also writing about prominent historical figures within the community. Her Writers Her Edge writing caught the eye of her David Rampulla, owner of Communication Associates (now her Ferryads), and he immediately hired her as a copywriter to develop her marketing skills. appointed her as her director of marketing. Now, married for over 22 years, she works with her now husband, Dave, who is the president of her Ferry Ads.
Ferry Ads is the New York City Department of Transportation’s sole media supplier for the Manhattan and Staten Island Ferry Terminals, the Staten Island Ferry, bus chutes at both terminals, and Empire Outlets.
In 2014, Rampulla launched her own marketing and advertising company, She Media NY. She Media NY offers a full range of advertising and marketing services, including media planning and purchasing. She Media NY is also accredited as an Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE).
“I started this business because I really loved marketing. Marketing is part of life. It’s the face you put forward,” says Rampulla. “I’ve worked in many different types of advertising, marketing and media, but she said She Media is where I finally came home.”
In late 2020, at the height of the pandemic, She Media NY partnered with Clear Channel Airports (CCA) to become an ACDBE/DBE/WBE local sales subcontractor in CCA’s airport bid for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). I was. .She Media NY has acquired his 11% of advertising contract rights to his PANYNJ’s airports, including John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia, Newark His Liberty International Airport and New York Stewart International Airport.
“Clear Channel, one of the world’s leading advertising venues, was bidding on the PANYNJ contract,” says Rampulla. “They came to me and said, ‘We really like you, we really like your work ethic, and we want to partner with you to give a woman-owned business a piece of this deal. is in fact the largest contract a small women-owned business has received from the Port Authority.”
Rampulla credits a large part of her success to her mother, who sadly passed away in 2019. Rampulla is closely tied to her mother and she speaks of her in her most admirable light. “My mother was an amazing woman and she shone a bright light into my life. She taught me the value of hard work and dedication,” she says Rampulla. “My father, Kenneth, a former New York City firefighter, has always supported me and my family as we talk about life, business, and the future of our country. I did.”
Teresa and Dave Rampulla have three daughters, Siena, Isobel and Vittoria, who are all very proud of them. Sienna followed in her mother’s footsteps and started a business called Pulla her tracker before graduating from her college.
For her achievements, Rampulla received the Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Award in the Established Businessman category. Presented by the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and Her Advance in Staten Island, this award honors West Brighton-based businessman and community leader Louis R. Miller.
Although no longer a Staten Island resident, Rampulla couldn’t be more connected to the Staten Island community. In addition to working daily with members of the community through marketing efforts, Rampulla is a member of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, Italian American Women’s National Organization, Italian American National Foundation, and Executive Women’s Association. Also a member. Council, and the National Association of Professional Women.
Rampulla also recently served on the Board of Directors of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. This is a feat that her mother would definitely be proud of. Additionally, she is a member of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, and the John F. Kennedy International Airport Chamber of Commerce.
“I think the Chamber of Commerce is a top priority for any business,” says Rampulla. “Being part of the largest business family doesn’t come cheap. I will always be a supporter of all Chambers of Commerce.”
Rampulla also does pro bono work with various organizations around the island, including the Staten Island Business Outreach Center, Wagner College, and Staten Island College. She enjoys mentoring young people and teaching them how to tell stories through products.
In 2018, Rampulla won the MWBE Recognition Award. The award was selected and presented by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the 5th District. It was recently recognized by the Staten Island Center for Independent Living for its positive impact on the Staten Island community.
