TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Stephen Stamkos scored 499 goals on a 5-3 power play in the third period as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-4 on Thursday night.
Just short of becoming the 47th NHL player to reach 500 goals, Stamkos defeated Collin Delia from the left circle to make it 5-2 at 5:30. Delia made four strong saves with the Lightning captain, including a pair during the ensuing one-man advantage.
Quinn Hughes and Elias Petterson scored to pull Vancouver down to 5-4. Curtis Lazar had his close shot sidelined by Andrei Vasilevskiy with his two seconds remaining.
Corey Perry, Alex Kilone, Nikita Kucherov and Brandon Hegel also scored for the Lightning on a nine-game winning streak at home. Vasilevskiy recorded his 36 saves.
Delia stopped 30 shots and Conor Garland and JT Miller added goals for Vancouver. Hughes has 201 career points in his career, he added two assists.
Canucks fell five times in a row on the road.
