Tim Pickett said he hopes to drive innovation in the industry with GreenFrame, a new tool aimed at changing the way consumers buy cannabis.
st. Louis — The West pioneered the cannabis industry, and since then, states and companies looking to enter the field have looked to the established Western market as a template for success.
But there’s a St. Louis guy trying to change that.
Tim Pickett said he hopes to drive innovation in the industry with GreenFrame, a new tool aimed at changing the way consumers buy cannabis.
GreenFrame allows shoppers to scan QR codes (surrounded by a green frame and displayed on retail signs and cannabis product packaging) to explore different types of cannabis. A web-based app provides a 3D rendering of the strain, information on its genetics, taste and effects, as well as personal notes from the grower.
“I started thinking, ‘What if there was a way to help dispensaries and make cannabis retailers more informed to consumers and bartenders?'” Pickett said.
At the time, he was working at Paradowski Creative, a full-service creative agency based in St. Louis. About five years ago, he said, he began gaining experience in the cannabis industry through various of his Paradowski projects and began developing ideas for what would become GreenFrame.
Pickett then attended MJBizCon, one of the world’s largest cannabis conventions, and thought someone must have pioneered the idea already, but was surprised he couldn’t find it on the exhibit floor. Told.
“So I thought, ‘Well, let’s at least be one of the first,'” he said.
