The rain stopped just in time for the start of the spring sports season at the local high school.
Gearing up for this week’s season were two senior pitchers going to college. Bulldogs left-hander Peyton Hawkinson signed with Fullerton, California, while Turlock Christian southpaw Gavin Farinha signed with Santa He Clarita’s Masters at his college.

Farinha is an athlete to watch. He led the nation with six no-hitters last year and was one of 12 pitchers in the country with a 0.00 ERA.
Despite the fine weather, the Eagles baseball team practiced at an indoor training facility. TC coach Bill York tested the players’ pace.

Turlock Baseball will begin the season on February 17 with a scrimmage against Manteca at Marc de la Motte Field. The Pittman baseball season begins on February 22 with a scrimmage game at home against Manteca. Turlock Christian Baseball will begin play on February 27 at Ripon Christian.
