With just over two weeks left in the high school basketball regular season, stay tuned for updates on what’s next for the Clatkanie Tigers.
It was a tough game for Kratskany men’s basketball. After a strong non-league start, the Tigers won his first three of his four games with wins over his Scio, Rainier and Portland Adventist Academy. A tough form then set in and the team dropped 11 of his last 12 games.
In league terms, the Tigers are struggling 1-7 in the 2A-1 Northwest League. His one win of theirs was complete dominance for Gaston, with the score his 10th January road he finished 79-36. As of press time, the Kratskany boys are in the middle of a five-game skid, losing to Portland’s Manahouse Academy, Nappa. Portland Christian, Vernonia, Nestucca.
The Tigers lost 64-66 at home on January 16, losing to Knappa was heartbreaking. The men’s program currently ranks 31st out of 37 teams competing in the 2A classification. Of his eight teams in the league, Gaston ranks seventh, with Gaston being his eighth. The top team in the league is Knappa with his 8-0 record in league play.
With six games remaining, the Tigers are on track for the final game and looking to end the season on a high note. You can follow the results of the match against Faith Bible on Thursday, January 26 at OSAA.com. In their first game against the Faith Bible on January 6, the Tigers lost 37–52.
women’s basketball
The Kratskany Girls Basketball have had more success, going 8-8 at the time of writing. After a strong start to non-league play as the team started 4-0 and finished pre-league play with a 5-3 record.
Within the 2A-1 Northwest League, the Tigers are 3-5, ranking 20th out of 36 teams in the 2A classification. The team lost close games to Knappa and Vernonia, with each game decided by 10 points or less. The team also has big victories over Portland, beating Christian 54-37 and Gaston 73-45.
Within the league, the Tigers are ranked 6th out of 8th, and Nestucca is setting the pace for the league with an 8-0 record. At press time, the Clatskanie girls have her six games left to push for the state playoffs.
On Thursday, January 26th, Clatskanie was scheduled to face Faith Bible/Life Christian. Results can be found at OSAA.org. In the previous matchup at home, the Tigers lost 27-55 and are looking for revenge.
The next chance to see the Clatskanie Girls is when Mannahouse Academy performs at the Clatskanie on Wednesday, February 1st at 6pm. The boys head to Portland He Christian with a tip-off will at 7:30 p.m.
