Colorado Springs, Colorado (KKTV) – Trinidad police have arrested 45-year-old Sherry Abeita in connection with a fire that broke out in downtown Trinidad last week. A fire destroyed a 100-year-old building that housed a family-run chiropractic business.
Abeyta is being held in Las Animas County Jail on first-degree arson charges. According to her arrest warrant, Abeyta confessed to setting the fire to retaliate against her boyfriend, who was living in a camp near the building at the time of the fire.
The Morelli-Low family owns a business that was destroyed in a fire. The two told 11News that his father, Doc Low, has lived in the building since his late 1980s, and the fire destroyed not only the business, but their family history.
