The South Congress, or SoCo as locals call it, is “the home and gathering place for artists, entrepreneurs, long-time Austinians and a variety of newcomers,” the realtor says. Karl Schur.
And the sur should know. He’s lived in his Travis Heights right next door to his bustling SoCo scene for the past decade. The proximity to parks, local businesses, Lady Bird Lake, downtown, and the airport drew him to the area.
He has also worked in the SoCo area for about 15 years, calling it “a great place to live and invest in real estate for over a decade.” I love the combination of busy urban corridors along South Congress Avenue and quiet outdoor spaces. Owning a home with a garden in Austin and within walking distance of parks, restaurants and shops is the best location. ”

place to eat and drink

“My two favorite spots for lunch are: Junes When cafe nose‘ says Shurl. June’s serves breakfast until 3 PM on weekdays. Try the omelet, it’s great. ”
Looking for fresh sushi in a cozy and relaxed environment? “neighborhood sushi It’s my go-to spot for sushi along South Congress,” he says. If you can’t find it, this is probably too cool. ”
where to play
Stacie Park and Bran Creek, a great place to run or work out. “Most days he takes his dogs Dude and Rocky on beautiful 45 minute walks through the park and along the creek.”
Also, near Lady Bird Lake and its hiking and bike trails, “perfect places to run, walk, bike and paddleboard.” An easy access point to hiking and biking trails from Travis Heights is at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Alameda Street, Schur advises.

“The SoCo area is a mix of architectures,” says Shurr. “From modern homes built in recent years, to ranch-style and mid-century modern homes built in the 1950s and he 60s, to craftsman homes built in the 1920s and he 30s. “
