COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Small businesses that used to call the mall home are now looking for new locations after the Eastland Mall officially closed on Saturday.
Anthony’s Nu Wave Entertainment opened in Eastland in July 2020, over two years ago. Founded by Tony and Tina Fleisher, this small business was meant to provide a variety of family entertainment, community outreach and worship services. The couple learned in November that the doors had to be closed by December 31st.
“I was hoping that Eastland Mall would be back and everything would be great again,” said Tina. “It was great right after the pandemic, but there were a lot of things I didn’t know because I was outside.”
The pair moved from Eastland last month. On Saturday, they took time to reflect on what small business means to them.
“Oh my god, it was really, really nice, the atmosphere, it was warm and nice,” said Tina Fleischer. , was a big black and red backdrop showing Anthony’s Nu Wave. [Entertainment] With high bars and stools etc.
As they packed their bags to leave, the pair said they still had a great many questions.
“Everything is just packed in the warehouse. You never know what happens next,” Tina said. “It’s a struggle, I’m just a human.”
She said they keep their faith, but that’s difficult.
