This Elizabethtown small business recently celebrated its one year anniversary. Over the past year, the store has offered nursing clothes, accessories, hair and beauty products, apparel, and more in honor of owner Melissa McCoy’s daughter, Shena, for whom the store is named.
Melissa McCoy said, “It was Shena’s dream to have a store. She loved clothes and all aspects of fashion. So to keep her dreams and memories alive, Shena’s Place Uniforms and Boutique. I decided to open it.”
The original goal was to provide uniforms, but when the store opened, the owner realized that customers needed other items and added these items to their inventory to better serve their customers. bottom. “The response has been very supportive,” McKoy added.
The first year in business brought both successes and challenges. McKoy explains: We’ve come to the point where we want to close, but we have amazing customers, prayers, and an amazing support team by our side. Thank God I didn’t give up and didn’t close the door on Shena’s Place Uniforms and Boutique. ‘ She continued, ‘Some days I make $500.00, other days I make only $20.00, but it’s better than nothing.
Supporting small businesses is very important. Because these local businesses contribute to our community in a positive way. When asked how Shena’s Place contributes to the community, owner girlfriend Melissa McKoy replied: I donate items for raffles and do this through monetary donations.I also do random acts of kindness to random people. I try to inspire other minority women to become entrepreneurs. “
