The Georgia Council for the Advancement of Education (GEAC) honored Amy Hancock, Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications at South Georgia State University, for her personal achievements and excellence in marketing and communications.
GEAC is a statewide organization for public and private colleges and universities involved in the advancement of education, including in the areas of alumni, development, publishing and communications. Hancock was nominated for the award by his Jimmy Harper, SGSC’s Vice President of Registration Management and Information Technology. She received the award at her GEAC’s Fall 2022 Conference in Savannah. The GEAC Awards are designed to honor Georgia’s higher education professionals who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields. As stated in her nomination, Hancock is committed to continuing education, promotion and is currently in charge of marketing and communications at SGSC. Her day job expanded into her admissions administration and she gained first-hand knowledge in the field of admissions and recruitment. Among her duties are creating designs for print and social media for recruitment and admissions campaigns, in addition to daily postings on the university’s official social media channels. In this role, she led the redesign of her website with a focus on improving the visitor experience with tools that meet the needs of current and future students, employees and her members of the community. .
“When we started the website redesign process, Amy willingly took the lead and started implementing plans to move the project forward,” says Harper. “She saw it through the lens of building a site Easy-to-navigate design and visually appealing.
