Sevier County, Arkansas (KSLA) – Sevier County Medical Center officially opens after unveiling emergency room sign!
When the former DeQueen Hospital closed, Sevier County residents voted to build a new medical facility in 2019. Nearly four years have passed since then, and now in the area he has a facility with 15 patient beds and 10 emergency room beds.
“This is an amazing facility. I’ve worked in emergency rooms for 25 years and they have thought of everything. They’ve done a great job. This should be a great asset to the community.” says Dr. Jeffrey Hamby.
The new medical center was scheduled to open in December 2022, but had to be delayed. Officials say the delay is good for the hospital and its 119 employees.
“This delay has given us time to better prepare for today’s grand opening. We never thought this day would come, but here we are,” said hospital administrator Lori House. Told.
The center is located on Highway 71 near DeQueen Lake.
“We have a great team here, not just the clinical team, but all the other people at the hospital. We’re excited to serve our community,” said lead nurse Stacey Dowdy. .
