A local 7-year-old entrepreneur will be honored as a Grand Marshal at the 41st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade on Monday.
Justin Booma, whose future goals include running for mayor of Las Vegas, president of the United States, and building a homeless shelter/orphanage that extends all the way to Mars, has been recognized by the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Doctors. . both in the Las Vegas community and abroad.
He will be one of five Grand Marshals and one of two Youth Grand Marshals under the age of 10 to be honored by the Commission during the parade. The downtown Las Vegas parade begins at 10am at the intersection of Gass Avenue and Fourth Street.
This honor makes Justin a little uneasy.
“I’m excited and nervous,” Justin said. “I’ve talked to more people, actually the General Admiral (it’s the status that makes him nervous).”
Together with his mother, Justin prepares gift bags to thank overlooked workers in his community, provides essential items to needy communities around the world, and books for homeless youth. Founded Heroes and Hearts, a non-profit that includes collecting.
According to his mother, Racquel Boumah, Justyn’s desire to help people has led to health care workers being recognized and thanking them more often on television during the pandemic shutdown in early 2020. It started when I found out. same level of recognition.
“When I was four years old, I asked community workers why they were not appreciated, so I thanked them,” Justin said.
Boumah said that after Justyn noticed it, he and his aunt began bringing water and other gifts when the cleaners stopped by to pick up the trash. That idea of giving ratings eventually led to the creation of Heroes And Hearts.
Justin is the author of 14 children’s books, starting with his first coloring book at age 2 with the help of professional illustrator Boomer.
Justyn confirmed that the Heroes And Hearts organization has more projects coming, including some of his other works and existing projects.
“More projects are in the works. Thank you for taking my word for it,” he said.
