See and disable apps with location access on Android

Location tracking is standard in most apps on Android devices. For each default, choose location tracking. This can be a significant privacy risk for some, but it’s the easiest option. Here’s how to see which apps have access to your location and how to adjust their permissions (you can also disable them on Android).

Once the app is installed, a window will appear during the initial setup of the app as long as location access is required. In that window you will see some options. First, users can choose to allow precise location tracking or coarse location tracking. This provides some leeway by preventing apps from accessing the user’s exact location.

Underneath, Android users can allow apps to access their location only once while using the app, or deny the app access to any location at all. This choice determines whether your app has access to the user’s general or precise location beyond the app’s first use.

Some apps need access to your location (or even your exact location) to function. For example, Google Maps and Waze require accurate location tracking to get reliable readings of your route. Ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft require precise access to dispatch vehicles to the right location.

Of course, that doesn’t describe all apps. Apps like AccuWeather don’t necessarily need precise location information. This is because storms are not very different within a 2-3 mile radius.

For some people, the approximate location is as private as the exact location. So how do you revoke that permission after the fact?

Disable access to precise and approximate location information from specific apps

Android 13 gives you easy access to all your apps and access to certain private aspects of your device such as your location, microphone and camera. As for location, it’s very easy to see a list of apps that have access to sensitive information.

1. On your Android device, setting.
2. scroll down and hit position.
3. Tap app location permissions.
   • Note: The top section shows apps that you always have access to. The following are apps that can only be accessed while in use. At the bottom is a list of apps that have been completely denied access.
4. tap any app Change permissions.
5. Choose when to access or hit not allowed Disable location access completely.
   • Note: You can also turn off precise location if you prefer.

Disable location access completely on Android

If you don’t want apps to access your location at certain times, you can turn it off completely. This is great if your phone is idle and you don’t want apps to know where you are.

This can be done in several ways.First, if you follow the steps above, you’ll find a toggle titled Place of use [場所]in tab. Turning this off will disable the setting entirely. However, if you know you want to toggle the feature off immediately, you should opt to use the quick settings toggle.

To do this, swipe down twice from your home screen and tap[クイック設定]Tap the pencil icon below the tile. From there, find a location and drag it to the main section. This allows you to turn location access on or off instantly.
