Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastian Haller said Monday he was optimistic about playing the team’s first official game on January 22 at the earliest as he is recovering from testicular cancer.
Speaking at the German national team’s winter training center in Marbella, Spain, Haller said he was doing his best ahead of the home game against Augsburg and said he would listen to the advice of Dortmund’s medical staff.

Haller could be on the bench for Dortmund’s friendly against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the Spanish seaside town on Tuesday afternoon.
Dortmund will return to league action against Augsburg on January 22nd and will face Chelsea in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on February 15th.
