Palermo’s gives back to the community one free meal at a time.
Minersville, Pennsylvania — The lines outside Palermo Pizza & Restaurant near Minersville are free food, not tables.
One of the restaurants on the Big Diamond Speedway that deserves a meal donation. Give back to those in your community who may be suffering from food insecurity.
“I think it’s great. I think everyone is struggling with the economy and inflation. I think it’s a really good gesture,” explained Schuylkill Haven’s Jodie Hertz.
Owners Jake and Jasmine Smulley want to help neighbors in Schuylkill County who may be struggling with rising inflation.
“The cost of living has gone up, no one’s wages have gone up, and everyone is struggling,” Hartz added.
A generous donation from the Big Diamond Speedway allowed Palermo to hand out 200 free meals.
“This will last me two days. said Deb Ebert of Pottsville.
Ebert shares how many friends across Schuylkill County are struggling to make ends meet.
“It’s hard, especially if you have a family. I know it’s not easy going from paycheck to paycheck. That’s me; I go from paycheck to paycheck,” Ebert added.
She is grateful to be able to come home with bags for herself and her neighbors in need.
It’s really great that they do this. I am grateful for all of this,” she said.
