Cleveland, Ohio (WOIO) – For the first time, you can legally bet on sports in Ohio.
For Cleveland Cavaliers fans, it’s located in the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse at the just-opened Caesars Sportsbook, just steps from the game.
“It’s nice to bet $10 and maybe win $200,” said one Cavs fan.
On Monday morning, City of Cleveland leaders, Cavaliers officials and legends, and Caesars sportsbook leaders like David Grohlman, just hours before the Cavaliers played the Chicago Bulls, opened a Vegas-style sportsbook. I showed off what was inside.
The approximately 10,355-square-foot sportsbook has a wall of flat-screen TVs, five betting windows, and 15 betting kiosks.
The second floor of the sportsbook has a lounge-like atmosphere with sofas, chairs, and cocktail tables.
There are bars on both the lower and upper floors with an extensive menu
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse’s Nic Barlage says it took him three years to partner with Ceasars Sportsbook.
“At the end of the day, when we start by creating additional amenities and experiences like this, fans are at the center of everything we do,” Barlage says.
He told 19 News that the money he makes from sports betting in Ohio will come back to help young people in his community.
“98% of tax revenue from sports gambling goes back to schools,” says Barlage.
