Rightstuff, a conservative dating app that promised a “wake-up” dating experience, quickly struggled to get back on track.
The app, which was launched by John McEntee, a former aide to Donald Trump, reports a significant drop in users in the months since it launched in September.
According to technology company Sensor Tower (via Daily Beast), The Right Stuff had 40,000 downloads in its first month. However, from November 1st to December 20th he had only 11,000 downloads.
The app was funded by conservative tech billionaire Peter Tale, who is openly gay. Rightstaff restricts mention of homosexual relationships.
When it first launched, it was quickly ridiculed for not being used by many women, with one reviewer complaining: I don’t understand, is there a bug in the app? “
Others thought the app wasn’t conservative enough, with one saying: Some conservatives are not Christians. i hate this app ”
The Right Stuff promises “back to normal” and allows users to view “pronoun-less profiles.”
McEntee says in the introductory video that users “probably won’t run into your soulmate at the grocery store or the gym,” but the app allows users to interact only with other users within a 100-mile radius. Cannot connect.
The rest of the video is spent criticizing other dating apps for allowing pronouns, multiple gender options, and trans people.
“It allows me to be honest and be myself without having my beliefs imposed on me,” she adds.
“This isn’t really the most political dating app.”
Upon loading The Right Stuff’s website, users are met with an ad that reads, “Throw away your liberal boyfriend’s oversized hoodie.”
Among those who support the app is Kyle Rittenhouse, who shot two people dead and injured a third during anti-racism protests in 2020.
