Bettors continue to monitor the early Super Bowl line
After a thrilling win in the AFC Championship, the Kansas City Chiefs opened Sunday night as the favorites to win the Super Bowl ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles. But within 30 minutes of sportsbooks posting their opening lines, they had moved a few points in the direction of the Eagles at major sportsbooks across the country. It was stable at Eagles -2 on BetRivers, PointsBet, etc.
In Las Vegas, many local books had queues up to Eagles -2.5, led by Circa Sports and SuperBook Sports. One bettor pegged the Chiefs’ odds at -2.5 on Sunday night before the line moved 16 seconds later. Thirteen days before the Super Bowl, the top betting syndicate will look to capitalize on arbitrage opportunities over the next two weeks.

Tuesday, January 31st
Massachusetts Launches Retail Sports Betting
Legal sports betting comes to Massachusetts on Tuesday, with three land-based sportsbooks opening their windows. On Tuesday, Bay State bettors will be allowed to place sports bets at the following brick-and-mortar sportsbooks: MGM Springfield (BetMGM). Encore Boston Harbor (WynnBET), Plainridge Park Casino (Barstool Sportsbook).
BetMGM will accept the first bets when retail sports betting begins statewide at 10am ET. At MGM Springfield, former Boston Bruins All-Star defenseman Ray Burke joins the ribbon-cutting ceremony at his new BetMGM sportsbook.
Former Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich is set to make an appearance at Plainridge Park when the Barstool Sportsbook opens on Tuesday. Plainville’s casino is minutes from Gillette Stadium, home of the Patriots. Three retail sportsbooks get a head start on mobile sportsbooks, which won’t go live until March.

New York State Legislature Holds Hearings on Mobile Sports Betting
New York State is having a successful first year for mobile sports betting, with state tax revenue reaching nearly $700 million in calendar year 2022, beating expectations.
Amid windfall, leading gaming lawmakers will consider the impact mobile sports betting will have on the state budget at a joint state Senate and Congress hearing on Tuesday. introduced a bill to expand the number of mobile sports betting operators in New York from 9 to 14 by New Year’s Day 2024. The hearing will take place the day before Kathy becomes governor of New York. Ho-chul is scheduled to deliver his annual budget speech on Wednesday.

Top sportsbooks expected to release Super Bowl props
Last year, Superbook posted a massive 32-page menu of Super Bowl props on February 4, nine days before the big game. By Friday, several high-profile sportsbooks are set to release all of their Super Bowl LVII props.
Selected props have already been released in some books. In a point bet, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has -135 odds of scoring a touchdown anytime in the Super Bowl. After deliberation at the Massachusetts Gaming Commission last week, Bettors in the Bay State will be allowed to bet on the coin toss, as bettors in many other states can bet.

LeBron keeps chasing Kareem’s record
After scoring 41 points against the Celtics on Saturday, LeBron James is 117 points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time NBA scoring record. The Lakers have three games ahead of him this week in New Orleans on Saturday night.
James, who is averaging 30.2 points per game, won’t set a record until next week. Still, he could surpass Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 points in his career on Saturday night. FanDuel has the odds on the exact date James will break the record at +3100 against the Pelicans on Saturday.
NHL All-Star Game Returns to South Florida
The Florida Panthers will host the NHL All-Star Game on Saturday, 20 years after the first marquee event in franchise history. The Panthers had planned to host the event in 2021, but the league canceled All-Star Weekend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
