Kansas State has a new No. 1 overall seed after Tuesday’s overtime victory over in-state rival University of Kansas. Purdue is currently the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament Bracket projection.
The Boilermakers have seven wins in Quadrant 1, more than any other team. The Jayhawks also have seven wins in Quad 1, which is a big reason Kansas is still top of the bracket as the 4th seed overall.
Alabama is currently in second place overall, while Houston remains in third place. The Crimson Tide have one more loss than the Cougars, but they played a pretty good schedule and are the only team in Houston to win.
Kansas State moved to the top of the No. 2 seed on the strength of their victory over Kansas. A head-to-head result against Kansas — an overtime victory at home — isn’t enough to negate the strength of the Jayhawks’ overall resume.

Hard-to-find bulk bidding
There were still five Big 12 teams in the top 16 of the updated bracket, nearly one-sixth. By March, I think things have sorted out until he’s no more than four teams in the top 16 conferences.
This year looks tough for overall bids outside of the six major conferences. This bracket has his four teams from Mountain West. That league is the best non-major this season in terms of potential tournament teams, after which it has two each from the West Coast and American Athletic Conferences (in the first four outs he has UCF included).
That’s just 5 large teams. Usually 7-8 people attend from outside the main meeting.
The Atlantic 10 is usually good for a couple of big teams, but this season it looks like one bid meeting.
Of course, this does not include conference tournament upsets, which can create common spots in non-major conferences that don’t show up in expected brackets until after the upset.
FAU build resumes with NET results
One of the teams we hear about often is FAU. Specifically, why is the owl so high in his NET rankings?FAU said he’s NET this morning after losing three spots following his 19-point win at UTSA. he is 15th. One of, if not NET’s biggest factors, is his margin of victory. The Owls have ranked him 10th in scoring difference this season against Division I opponents. Of course, the strength of the team’s record and schedule is also very important.
Kansas is the only NET top-10 team behind FAU. Jayhawks is still very strong on the net (6th) as he has the most rated schedule, even though he is 19th in scoring margins.
The Owls’ schedule loosens somewhat as they go through conference play, but their NET rankings may not drop too much if they can keep up the big numbers on the scoreboard.
Note that FAU is 11th in the bracket, but good NET rankings are not guaranteed when it comes to selection and seeding.
