RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Anti Laanta had 24 saves in his first shutout since March as the Carolina Hurricanes extended their ninth straight win Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Martin Nekas, Jesper Fast, and Jordan Martinook extended their scoring streak to 15 games, a franchise record.
Lahanta started three games in a row and completed his 16th career shutout. He faced only seven shots in both the first and third periods.
The Blackhawks, seeking a winning streak for the first time since the end of October, have lost nine of their last 10 games.
Chicago goaltender Petr Mrazek made 46 saves against one of his former teams.
The Hurricanes had 23 shots in the first period. 2 points in 9 minutes.
Nekas fought for space in front of the net and was rewarded by putting enough sticks into the puck to put it in his 15th goal of the season. One season ago, he scored 14 points in 72 regular-season games.
Fast, who scored his third goal in two games and his fifth of the season, benefited from a puck on off-Chicago defenseman Conor Murphy.
Martinook’s goal came at 4:55 of the third period just after Carolina’s power play expired.
