In a recent interview with VLAD TV, Quentin Miller talked about co-writing a song for Drake, which he had never written before.
Known for mixing both Drake’s Beef and Meek Mill and Pusha T, Quentin Miller is best known for his “ghostwriting” label. Although he has contributed many songs for Drake, Miller says he has never received a publication check for his work.
“I never got a publication check for a Drake song,” Miller revealed. “I never got a single publication check from any song. In those circumstances, I had to support my family by getting paid under the table. Tricky and they let me go.” I didn’t get out of that contract until 2019, 2020. I signed in 2011. They didn’t let me go. I had to let go of a lot of s*** to get out. I didn’t.
Nothing is easy for Miller. The link with Drake also required the text “Hail Mary” and a certain producer who took a chance on him.
“I met Boi-1da at a random session in Toronto,” Miller explained on VLAD TV. “Sent a random Hail Mary text to 1da one summer, probably 2014 top of 2013. Can I send you some songs? He’s like, ‘yeah’ . I sent him some songs. he had sex with it. He was working with OB O’Brien at the time. So he made me work with his OB O’Brien. And I think OB Brien’s words moved to Drake. ”
Since then, Miller has co-written four songs from Drake’s 2015 mixtape, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. “Used To”, “10 Bands”, “Legend”, “6 Man”. Miller was very grateful to work with Drake as he said, “It felt like he was on the team.”
Miller made headlines with the 2018 Pusha-T Drake Beef. On Pusha’s “Infrared,” he raps: /We all know the n********s were really waiting,” Drake claims to actually have a ghostwriter.
