Cal was considered one of the finalists .
Cal has been seen as a long shot since Rashada was released by the Gators in a big way after his reported $13 million NIL deal fell through.
The Bears were one of Rashada’s finalists when he first committed to Miami before moving to Florida. The Bears’ advantage is that Rashada is from the Bay Area (Pittsburgh, Calif.).
According to reports, his favorites after his release from Florida were believed to be Arizona State University and TCU, with Washington, Colorado and Cal mixed in. However, the Sun Devils were always considered the top favorites to land Rashada.
That’s because Rashada was in a relationship with Kenny Dillingham when Dillingham was offensive coordinator in Oregon last year. Dillingham is currently the head coach at Arizona State University.
So instead of playing for the Golden Bears, Rashada will likely face Cal next season. Cal will host Arizona State University on his Sept. 30, 2023.
It is unclear whether NIL (name, image, and likeness) compensation played a role in Rashada’s decision.

The 247 Sports site reported on Rashada’s ASU commitment and included the following excerpt:
After being offered a scholarship by the school’s former coaching staff, Rashada told Sun Devil Source in August 2020 that he grew up hoping to one day play college football at ASU, where his father, Harren Rashada, was a member of the team. rice field. 1990s.
Rashada said at the time of receiving the scholarship offer, “It was a blessing. It was just a dream come true.” “When I was little, I always dreamed of being in a relationship with a coach and being their priority. And obviously, when you’re a coach’s priority, it’s a turn-on to the program. It was a blessing.. It was kind of crazy.
“My dad used to play football at ASU. He played with[former linebacker]Pat Tillman. He’s an alumni there.”
He got close, but Rashada decided not to commit to the Sun Devils at that point.Nine months later, the situation was effectively put on hold due to an NCAA investigation into ASU football recruits. What followed was an 18-month collapse in the Herm Edwards era that squashed recruitment and eventually led school officials to ASU alumni Kenny Dillingham as the youngest Division I head football coach in the country at all. I’ve come to ask you to put the pieces back. he is just 32 years old.
This effectively confirms that Sam Jackson V, who moved from TCU, will become Cal’s starting quarterback in 2023. Last year’s Cal starter Jack Plummer moved to Louisville.
