Peshtigo Business Makes Mushroom Foraging Easy

Peshtigo, Wisconsin — For 40 years, a Wisconsin company has found a way to bring edible mushrooms to customers, regardless of the season.

Field & Forest Products ships mushroom growing kits to customers. Founded in 1983 by his Krawczyk parents, the Peshtigo, Wisconsin location is a bit of an oddball.

“Mainly, many mushroom growers live in the southeastern part of the country because it is hot and humid.

The company offers several types of tabletop kits that grow in any season.

“They often produce the first crop just fine, and then they can keep it and pull the second crop out of it, so they can make some meals,” Krawczyk says. Told.

The company recently shipped a number of kits for the holiday season. Spring is also a time of flood of orders.

Interest in mushrooms seems to have increased since the pandemic.

Bender says the process has been somewhat foolproof, with many customers interested in the mushroom’s potential health benefits.

“Many mushrooms have been shown to be of medical benefit to us, especially in the last few years,” Bender said.

Despite the somewhat intimidating process, the family business continues to help fungi enthusiasts forage from the comfort of their own homes.
